The big moment has arrived: Andrew turns ONE today! I can't believe what a BIG boy he is and how much fun it has been watching him grow up. I never thought this day would be here so fast! I don't care what they say about him turning into a toddler now. He's still my baby! And always will! :)
Last night, it started to snow. It came down hard and fast too! A huge snow storm was expected. So he woke up on his FIRST birthday to almost 2 feet of snow outside. He looked pretty excited as he and his sisters stood on the couch looking out the back window. We had a little birthday party planned for him and everything but obviously due to weather, we cancelled those plans but still went ahead and had a family party! Cupcakes, balloons, Sesame Street decorations and presents filled the dining room. It snowed here all day and was so pretty out.
Once the candle was lit, the Happy Birthday song was sung, and the candle was blown out - he had NO idea what to do with the cupcake on his highchair tray. He just sat there and stared at it. Then poked his finger at it. And then I just couldn't take the suspense anymore so I dipped my finger into the frosting and gave him a tiny taste. And that would be the last taste he would take of the thing. He had zero interest in his cupcake. I just don't get it. None of our kids liked their FIRST birthday cake. But that's okay. In my opinion, the less sugar they like, the better. At least they take good pictures with frosting all over their faces!
He then went straight into the bath. He clearly had more fun in there than at his party. Strange kid sometimes. At least getting him clean is hardly ever a struggle! (Gotta think positive!) After he was all cleaned up and ready for bed, he played with his tractor toy for a few minutes and then snuggled up with Dad to watch a little bit of the Blazer game.
Being snowed in, we were still able to make his special day really fun. He is such a good boy and I love him to pieces!
After I laid him down for the night, I still couldn't believe my little boy had turned ONE years old today! They grow up so fast! And again, that song came to mind: Don't blink!
