So I have been putting off making cookies with the girls for a few days now. But when the rain and thunderstorm rolled in this afternoon and at that point decided to ditch John's softball game (sorry honey), I realized today was a great day to finally make them---just me and my girls. It was a little crazy at first because I was following a new recipe and I'm a clean freak and didn't know how best to let the girls help. I finally lightened up and watched them pour, mix, and scoop away. And 48 cookies later!!! Yikes. Maybe next time I'll slice the recipe in half? Looks like John's co-workers are going to be eating some cookies tomorrow. Better them than me. Don't let me fool you though...I'm not sending them ALL with him to work. :)

I totally know how you feel about letting the kids help. Aubrey is definitely old enough to be a good helper though. She could really learn a lot about cooking at her age. How are you? I am sorry I didn't get to see you when you were in Oregon. Maybe next time!
Hey Amb! Oh yes. When it's just Aubrey helping it's fantastic. Add an almost 2 year old to that mix and it gets pretty crazy. :) I had Aubrey help me bake the last 2 dozen cookies after Jocelyn hit the hay and it was wonderful. She loves helping in the kitchen where she can. I'm doing pretty good. Feeling bigger by the week-although it's probably because I am. Our trip to Oregon was nice but there were SO many people and things to see. We will definitely have to try and get together the next time we're in town which unfortunately won't be anytime soon. :( Hope you guys are doing well!
How fun! I have a love-hate relationship with cooking with kids. It is so much more work but they love it so much. I need to be better about it! I am glad that you were able to enjoy some cooking time with your girls.
