Put Me In The Zoo

Yes this is the title to one of Jocelyn's favorite Dr. Seuss books but our family did take a trip to the Washington D.C. zoo today so I felt that this title fit nicely. We met up with my cousin and her son and walked around and saw most of the animals for the 2-3 hours that we were there. Jocelyn's request was to see the snakes (who knows why other than it's her favorite thing in her word book) so we made sure we saw them but since this zoo is enormous, for the rest of the time we just walked around and saw what we could in the time that we had before it closed. Some of these animals were the: panda, elephant, pig, monkey, alligator, lion, and seal. The kids love the zoo so I'm glad we had a free Saturday to go and let them have some fun.

After the zoo, we headed over to see the Lincoln Memorial and meet up with my cousin's husband. This was the first time I had seen the memorial up close so I was glad we were able to make the time to see it. For some reason, our digital camera doesn't like night shots so taking a picture from Lincoln Memorial of the Washington Monument didn't turn out real well but I'm posting on here the best one I could get. This is the point where I gave up taking pictures. Then we headed down and walked through the Korean War Memorial and then for our last stop, we walked over to see the FDR Memorial. We were thinking of going on to Jefferson Memorial but I graciously declined. I was beat! All in all, I think our daily walking came to 5 or 6 miles so of course I was happy to finally get back to the truck around 9 pm to head on home. We had such a great time hanging out with my cousin and her family and to be able to spend a beautiful November day sightseeing.
