This Week In Pictures (2/8 - 2/14)

{Jocelyn was eating her lunch when she tried offering Elmo a cracker!}

{Kisses - always!}

{SO HAPPY!}

{Jocelyn made a funny. I went to put something in the kitchen. Came back and this is what I found laying next to Andrew: her dolly. I instantly cracked up laughing because they're both smiling, both have blue eyes, and their heads are almost the same size. :) }

{"Here brother. Don't loose your pacifier."}

{She LOVES toes. Even her brothers seem to take up some interest.}

My Daughter, My Teacher

We've been working with Jocelyn on her ABC's and I happened to film her singing the ABC song (I had to sing along with her for support). At the end she says, "Good job momma!" That made me laugh for quite awhile. It's almost like she's saying: "Good job momma...you now know your ABC's like I do!" :) She never ceases to amaze me!

{Jocelyn riding on Aubrey's back. Jocelyn kept saying "move doggie!" Pretty funny...even Aubrey thought so. For a short time anyways.}

{A pic of the kids being a bit cranky one morning. Ah! Breakfast did the trick & they were happy again.}

The Life Of A Child

Oh what it would be like to have a day only filled with fun. Choices consisting of coloring in coloring book, reading stories, playing with toys, jumping and dancing to music, watching Clifford or Sesame Street, going on walks, playing in the snow, being driven to and fro, having someone else make my breakfast. lunch. dinner with snacks in between. It's too bad as grown ups we don't remember the simple days that we received these very same childhood joys. But I sure do ENJOY watching my children be children and that's what brings a smile to my face daily.

So I put on some music this afternoon. Baby Einstein by request. The Itsy Bitsy Spider came on and she was throwing her arms around and jumping all over the room. I thought it was so cute that I snuck the camera past her and shot a few pictures of her excitement. The life of a two year old ought to be grand...minus the tantrums of course. ;)

Cradle Cap?

A few days back we started noticing a red rash appearing on Andrew's face and spreading to his chest and back. I called the doctor to get him in to have it checked today and found out it's all from cradle cap. Our girls never got this so it wasn't something I was too familiar with. His doctor told me to wash his hair for a month or so with Selsun Blue and apply anti fungal cream to the affected areas and it should all clear up within a few weeks. I've done my research and using Selsun Blue on a baby makes no sense to me with the all the harmful chemicals it contains. I'd use just plain baby oil if it was only on his head but it has spread to his body and don't know what else to use. I think I'm just going to continue with his regular shampoo and keep applying the cream as directed. John even thinks it's baby acne instead of cradle cap so in the event that it is...I don't want to treat something that doesn't need to be treated. It's hard to know what to do in this case but as his parents, I know we'll do what's best for him and he'll be taken real good care of.

Poor guy. Never a dull moment it seems but at least it's a minor condition that will go away without problems or scaring and doesn't cause him any pain or irritation (that I'm aware of). Just mild redness . :/ Of course none of this makes us want to snuggle and love him any less! Quite frankly I'm surprised the pediatrician doesn't know us by name yet! Between all the kids, we've been there at least half a dozen times in the past month or so. January's been quite the eventful month to say the least! Let's hope February slows down a bit.

Let It Snow!

Today brought us our first snow this winter. I have to admit: it's been awhile since we've seen (let along played) in the snow! Aubrey had the day off of school and John stayed home from work so while we headed out to run an errand in the morning we let the girls go out and soak up some fun. They were SO excited and really wanted to build a snowman but the snow turned out being wet and crispy so they weren't able to. But that definitely did not stop them from attempting a few snowballs. The girls and I took a walk down to the mailbox tonight and the whole way there and back Jocelyn would stomp her feet and yell out "crunch" with every step she took. Aubrey and I found that very amusing. :)
