A few days back we started noticing a red rash appearing on Andrew's face and spreading to his chest and back. I called the doctor to get him in to have it checked today and found out it's all from cradle cap. Our girls never got this so it wasn't something I was too familiar with. His doctor told me to wash his hair for a month or so with Selsun Blue and apply anti fungal cream to the affected areas and it should all clear up within a few weeks. I've done my research and using Selsun Blue on a baby makes no sense to me with the all the harmful chemicals it contains. I'd use just plain baby oil if it was only on his head but it has spread to his body and don't know what else to use. I think I'm just going to continue with his regular shampoo and keep applying the cream as directed. John even thinks it's baby acne instead of cradle cap so in the event that it is...I don't want to treat something that doesn't need to be treated. It's hard to know what to do in this case but as his parents, I know we'll do what's best for him and he'll be taken real good care of.
Poor guy. Never a dull moment it seems but at least it's a minor condition that will go away without problems or scaring and doesn't cause him any pain or irritation (that I'm aware of). Just mild redness . :/ Of course none of this makes us want to snuggle and love him any less! Quite frankly I'm surprised the pediatrician doesn't know us by name yet! Between all the kids, we've been there at least half a dozen times in the past month or so. January's been quite the eventful month to say the least! Let's hope February slows down a bit.

Taylor had the same issues. She had thrush first, which was AWFUL. She had it for weeks and they never gave us medication, just painted her (and me) with that purple gunk. And then, as if having a goth baby with a stained purple mouth wasn't bad enough, she got what they called 'the worse case of newborn rash they had ever seen.' The rash covered her from head to foot and the docs said there was nothing we could do for her, that it would clear up on its own. At the time I thought it was awful. But it all cleared up by the time she was two months old and we have some pretty hysterical pictures! Poor girl...
Good luck with it! Sorry I don't have better advice...we just waited it out.
