Soccer - Fall 2010

August was the beginning of Fall soccer season. Games have been in full swing since the 8th of September and I haven't had a lot of down time to write about each one, so here is a compilation of her 1st four games.

Game One: I wasn't able to attend her first soccer game this season due to not being able to be at two places at once. I was pretty bummed about that to say the least. It was preschool orientation night for Jocelyn but I did manage to take a picture of Aubrey before she left for the game with her friend. They won 3 to1.

Game Two: We were in charge of bringing the drinks for this game. Luckily the game started at 10am and it wasn't too hot outside yet.This summer has been miserable heat wise! Aubrey got in there and played really well. They won 4 to 2.
{This moment was cute...Jocelyn was yelling out on the field to get Aubrey's attention. I told her that sister and her team was trying to focus on the game and we'd talk to her when she was done.}
{She must have heard her though because not a moment later, she was waving to us at the sidelines. :)}
{Andrew got into the soccer spirit with his shirt! lol}
{And he kept me plenty busy during the game. It's a miracle I actually watched any of Aubrey playing out there. He kept throwing his sister's shoe out past the white line and then making a mad dash for it - which in turn made ME make a mad dash to bring him back behind the lines. Silly boy!}
{Yummy after game snack!}

Game Three: We were literally being attacked by hornets while watching this game. Someone spilled a bunch of sticky stuff by the garbage cans next to the field and they were all over the place driving a lot of people crazy. So I snuck a few shots of Aubrey and grabbed the kids to find another place to hang out until the game ended. This gave Jocelyn the opportunity to play on a huge rock next to the restrooms. Whatever keeps her occupied! They lost this game 2 to 0.
{Aubrey - throwing the ball back into the game}
{Aubrey - blue shirt 2nd in from the left}
{Wearing mama's shades to block the sun-in-the-face. What a cutie!}
{Jocelyn ran up to Aubrey to snuggle up to her to see if she could get her an after game snack too. Usually if there's left overs, the little kids get offered snacks as well. I don't believe this was one of her lucky days when it came to that though. But Aubrey shared a little of hers anyways. I love these two girls of mine!}

Game Four: This game was first thing in the morning - barely 70 degrees yet. Jocelyn was shivering until I told her to run around but I was taking it all in. The 70's are a perfect temperature in my book! (Of course Andrew started running around too seeing that Jocelyn was and then we got into the game of me running him back off the field. Those darn white lines!) The team played awesome out there and gave it their all but in the end, lost 5 to 1.
{The white line dash! Stinker!!!}
{Aubrey - middle, kicking the ball}

That's it for now. There are four more scheduled games, not including if they go to play-offs. Go team!

Soccer Party

As each season of soccer concludes, a party is usually awaiting. The bbq was unfortunately being held during a certain toddler's nap time. We tried winging it anyways in hopes that he would get some sleep later. But he wasn't having it so I opted to stay home with him and give him his much needed nap and John went ahead to take the girls to the party. It was another hot day here too and they came back tired and flushed in the face from all of the outdoor fun they had. Playing in a bouncy house and eating lots of yummy food is a hard job, you know!

Great job Aubrey! Another season down...and another on it's way. :)

Spring 2010 Soccer Championships

{Hugs before the game}

Aubrey's team played a tough game and put up a hard fight as one of the teams to make it to the Spring 2010 Soccer Championships, but they ended up losing 2 to 1. We're still really proud of them and how far they got into the season - especially because tonight they played against a previous played team that wasn't very sportsman-like and refused to high five them at the end of that game. But this time, they changed their tune and gave them high fives at the end. It was a great season...and this concludes our soccer updates until it resumes again in the Fall! Happy summer! :)

{Aubrey - blue shirt, middle player}
{They sprayed their hair red to match their socks}
{Aubrey tossing the ball back into the game}
{Bleachers=drums!}
{Aubrey's team scoring their 1 point}
{Aubrey getting ready for the ball}
{Happy boy!}
{And silly too...he kept running out onto the field and getting snatched and brought back to our seats}
{Aubrey - blue shirt, middle}
{Jocelyn wanted me to play ball with her}
{So we did! :)}
{It was a hot day and they played hard - they're getting their much deserved after game snacks. Cookies & popsicles}
{And having fun dunking their coach with their waters (not Gatorade at the coaches request! Smart!)}
{But Aubrey managed to be the one to get water splashed on top of his head! She got a big kick out of it!}
{Good game, Aubrey! We love you!}

Soccer Play-Off Game #2

For the second play-off game, the team tied 0 to 0 against the first place team. Then they went into 2 (5 minute) overtimes. Still tied 0 to 0. The refs were then deciding whether to go to penalty kicks or to sudden death and they ended up going with penalty kicks. Aubrey's team's goalie saved every shot the other team made (3 of them) and Aubrey's team shot all of them into the net (again, 3 of them). The final score was 1 to 0 - with their team now moving up into the championship game next week. The girls were sooooo excited! :)

This is also the farthest Aubrey has gotten on a soccer team; all seasons, she has made it to play-offs but never the championship! And every season, she keeps getting better and better and more aggressive with the ball and out on the field. Go Aubrey (and team)!

{Aubrey - blue shirt, middle}
{We finally got smart and brought his bouncy ball - thinking it would provide more entertainment than going up and down the hill. But it ended up being the same...just while holding his ball now! :)}
{This picture was taken right after I stopped her from picking on her brother - pulling on his shirt while he kept trying to walk forward...to be exact. Such a stinker!}
{Aubrey - blue shirt, middle}
{Aubrey - blue shirt, far right}
{I put him in his blue soccer shirt - to match and support his sister on the field!}
{Team sitting during penalty kicks}
{After game snack & pep talk}
We're so proud of you Aubrey! Way to go!! :)
