Pizza + Anne Frank's Home

We set out with some of our friends to look for a new {local} place to eat dinner.
One that John had seen on the way to work one day and heard great things about.
It's called Dick & Doof and it had some amazing pizza!
And the people that worked there were so nice and friendly - especially to the children.
Not that the other places we've gone to haven't been also good to us (becaue the German food is sooo good too!), but we've been finding {and hearing from others} that the Italian restaurants are a bit more friendly towards larger families.

We had a great night out and LOVE our new friends! :)
Kids had cheese pizza and Fanta drinks.
Landon had a cookie after his veggie.
I had prosciutto pizza and John had a calzone.
So yummy!

After getting to the restaurant, it came to our attention that Anne Frank's childhood home was RIGHT across the street from where we were eating! I knew the home was somewhere in Frankfurt but still had yet to find it. Mission accomplished! :)

On our way back home, we stopped and took pictures of the house and read the historical sign out front. Rather, I should probably say that I was able to read a few words as it was written in German. Having read The Diary of a Young Girl back in high school, I think it's fitting that I will be putting that book on my shelf to read next! I never knew how much I'd love history again until moving to Virginia and Germany. So much to see and learn!

Family Day

Today was a special day for us so we took the whole day off to spend together.
I can't tell you how nice it was!
Aubrey stayed home from school and we treated the kids to lunch at their favorite spot: Red Robin!
Andrew was curious with the lime that we had in our lemonades. Over and over, he would take a taste and do the shake afterwards until he refused any more tries. :P
And at the end...balloons all around.
Well, 3 anyways. :)

Cinco De Mayo

To celebrate Cinco De Mayo and to take my kids out for a lunch date, I took Jocelyn and Andrew to Pancho Villa to meet up with my friend and her family. Tuesday is also kid-eat-free-day, so it was a double celebration! :)
While we all sat around eating chips and salsa and having fun talking and waiting for our food, Jocelyn and her friend shared ear plugs and watched the movie UP on my friend's iphone. So cute!
Andrew kept busy being silly and wiggling and waving at all of the balloons around the restaurant that he desperately wanted to get his little hands on!
I had been to this restaurant once before and the food is really good! So is the service! I passed on getting Andrew his own meal since he eats practically everything, so I decided to share my enchilada, beans and rice with him. Of course I spoke too soon because he wanted nothing to do with it! What a turkey!
Jocelyn and her buddy shared a quesadilla and fries. She also whined a million and one times to have me help her with the ear plug because it kept coming out of her ear. Half jokingly (after many attempts to help her keep it in), I told her to just watch the movie!
And my sweet little Andrew finally got his beloved balloon before we left.
We of course couldn't leave without Jocelyn getting one too! Free entertainment is sometimes the best!

And so are great friends! :)
