This Week In Pictures (11/1 - 11/7)

This week:
* We started dressing for WINTER!
* Played indoors alot more than last week - atleast the sun was out!
* Andrew advanced a bit closer to starting to crawl. Now if only he could tuck his leg behind him, he'd be going places! :)
* Drove downtown to get John's parking pass
* Celebrated the Marine Corps Birthday & attended a Farewell party to a fellow Marine of John's

1st Dentist Visit

The day finally came! Jocelyn's FIRST trip to the Dentist. Turning three is exciting, huh? :) She willingly climbed into the chair, sat back and let the Hygienist clean & count her teeth. She looks scared here but she did AWESOME! The Dentist & Hygienist explained to me before hand that they would only do what she would allow as they do not encourage children to be scared. So if she hadn't opened her mouth, they would have been fine with that and had her come in another time. But she was great and was such a good girl to get everything done. Dentist examined her at the end and confirmed no cavities! YAY! She then hopped down and got really excited about the goodie bag they gave her: new toothbrush & toothpaste, flossers, stickers & a special prize from the front desk treasure chest. Let's hope the next time goes just as smooth.

Jocelyn's 3 Year Well Visit

Stats:

Weight: 23 lbs. 7 oz.

Height: 34 inches

At Jocelyn's 3 year check up, they plotted her stats and then informed me that her growth is still OFF the charts. (under!) But - they are still consistent to where her growth has always been. She's very much a healthy toddler - just petite like her mama. I've been weighing on this decision for some time now but as things have gotten progressively worse at the doctor's office (let's just say unprofessional), I've decided to shop for a new pediatrician. Someone who doesn't obsess with Jocelyn's weight EVERY month and knows you can't change a child's genetic make-up! The good news is, as I checked her stats from her 2 year well visit just a year ago, that she's grown 3 lbs and 1 1/4 inches. But it's still time to go break open the chocolate milk powder to encourage more daily milk intake. (Thank goodness she at least LOVES cheese!) I'm thinking that her drinking maybe 6 ounces a day just isn't cutting it! I'll be back to update once we have news from their new pediatrician.

Our 3 Goblins

Halloween came by chance this year for our little goblins. We had already participated in our ward's Truck Or Treat Halloween Party last week but we still had intentions of taking them out on actual Halloween as well. Until Halloween rolled around and Aubrey wanted a different costume at 6pm! Daddy stepped in and drove this goblin to a few stores returning home with a bat? skeleton? It looked pretty good whatever it was and considering it was last grabs, it was the most modest of them all. Let's just say we'll be more prepared and planned next time around. I might just even MAKE their costumes. Well they still HAD to have dinner. There was no way I was going to release them out into the intermittent rain with empty tummies sucking down gobs of candy instead so we didn't leave the house until 7:30 pm. Holy smokes it was late! And at this point, no one had stopped at our door to trick or treat so a bowl of 3 bags of candy sat waiting and waiting for nothing. This candy is definitely finding it's way to John's work! I'm not sure if it was due to the rain that no one came by or that a lot of people just aren't participating in the holiday this year? The mall was having an event, so that could have been why. So we hopped in the truck and drove to our friend's neighborhood and partook in their festivities. The kids had fun showing off their costumes and stayed warm by the bon-fire. We noticed more activity in their neighborhood so we decided to take a stroll with the kids around the block so they could go to a few lit up doors. They had so much fun! Jocelyn was easily entertained towards the end of the night that she was head over heals in love with a huge puddle of mucky water. Jumping and splashing EVERYWHERE! Her once cream tights were now a dark shade of black. I surprised myself and didn't even care. They were having fun and that's all that mattered as long as they were safe. I took one look at them once we got home and knew stain remover wouldn't do a THING for them! So in the garbage they went! We won't go into her once brand new white shoes though. This Week In Pictues (10/25 - 10/31)

This Week:
* Jocelyn started her morning routine: puzzles
* Andrew had fun playing with his daddy's shoe while also trying to figure out how to go from scooting to crawling
* We caught a beautiful sunset with the camera
* Admired the Fall change in colors on the trees
* Made a roast in the crock pot
* Aubrey had her end of the season soccer banquet awards & Activity Days where they carved pumpkins
* The kids played very nice together

It's A Date!

To celebrate John & I's 4 year wedding anniversary, we arranged to have our great babysitter watch the kids while we went out to dinner. We really don't get out nearly as often as we should. And hopefully that will change so we DO get out more. We have heard positive reviews about a new restaurant in the area called The Fredericksburg Pub - which we learned had AWESOME fish and chips! Since we've moved from Oregon, we have not been able to find great fish and chips (we miss BURGERVILLE!) so we jumped at the chance to go and try it. We were not disappointed. Definitely filling and can only eat every blue moon but the food was good and we had a great time! Can't forget to mention how good the fried pickels were too. YUM! Too bad there was no room for dessert! I think we should have ordered that first! :)

So I thought it would be fun to post John & I's story of when we were friends in college and how he first asked me out. I had written this originally to someone who made a comment on our wedding anniversary but I thought that our story was worthy enough for all to hear:

It's one of those stories that seems small to others but was a huge moment for my husband and I. Truth be told, I was going straight to my college math class from work and didn't have time to eat dinner in between. So I ate the only thing I had on hand: a banana. Come test time with the partitions raised on the table and the room being dead silent with students concentrating on the exam, my stomach let out this HUGE growl! Someone would have had to be deaf NOT to hear it! A few moments later, my now husband slid a piece of his spare scratch paper under the partition asking if he could take me to get a bite to eat after class. And like the famous saying goes: the rest is history! :)
